Below is a directory of organisations covering those countries for which we have not been able to provide more in-depth information in this toolkit. The organisation details have been taken from a number of sources and have not been checked to confirm what services are provided and how they may be able to help. The organisations have been selected on the basis that they are known to be humanitarian organisations and may be able to render assistance. The first entry under each country heading will usually be the UK embassy of that country. It is important to remember that how you ask for help can be as important as who you ask for help, so it is sensible to think carefully about how you will approach any organisation that you have contact with. You may wish to consider: - How can I approach this organisation? Should I write to them or telephone them? - How much information is it helpful to give them about my situation? - What exactly am I asking them for assistance with and how can I phrase that clearly? It goes without saying that organisations are more likely to respond to a well-phrased polite request for assistance. You should expect that not all the organisations that you approach will be able to offer you the help that you had hoped for. If the organisation is unable to help consider asking them if they can signpost you to any other sources of advice or assistance.
