Any person who is not a British Citizen is ‘subject to immigration control’ and can potentially be removed or deported by the Home Office, particularly if they commit an offence. Deportation is most likely when a person is liable for what is known as 'automatic deportation'.
The following tool explains the process for automatic deportation. If a person is liable for automatic deportation they will be deported unless they meet the criteria of one of the exemptions for deportation. The exemptions are explained in the section Deportation and the Law. Even if a person is not liable for automatic deportation, the Home Office will consider deportation or removal action.
